It's now much easier to discover the SmartMusic Library with our recently added Find Music page.  Once you’ve logged into SmartMusic, you can view it from the Find Music tab. This is where you can search for for the latest releases — browse by category, genre or publisher.

Additional new features:

  • We've merged the two SmartMusic gradebooks into one grid view, from which you can now:
    • Delete assignments (by clicking on the trash can under each title)
    • Check the class details (by clicking on "Details" next to the class name)
  • Under the Admin tab, each Class Code is visible on the Classes page.

User experience:

  • Students will now receive a warning message when attempting to submit a second take for the same assignment.
  • The Units table can now be sorted either ascending or descending (A-Z and Z-A).
  • In search results, the instrument will default to the user's primary instrument.
  • Several layout improvements are now visible in the practice application and search results.
  • Several bugs have been fixed, including an issue that prevented students from submitting an assignment in which they had changed the cursor mode.

Coming soon:

  • In the next two weeks, we will release the first set of improvements for the assignment process: you'll be able to assign a piece to students without selecting a part (students will do this), and your assignments will be seen by recently enrolled students.
  • We're preparing a totally new assessment engine with greatly improved results for voice as well as more robust assessment overall.

If you have any questions regarding these updates, you can contact our technical support team directly by submitting a request here.  We've made many improvements since September and we will keep up the steady progress. Please continue to submit and vote on feature requests. Top ranking feature requests are added to our roadmap, where we indicate both what we're working on today and what is on the horizon.
