I noticed a few weeks ago that you guys removed all of the Frank Ticheli pieces and I am extremely disappointed. I'm sure there is a specific reason for this? These songs were the main reason I bought my Play Plus account and my band director was really hoping to be able to use smart music in class to work on American Elegy. This is a huge disappointment. Is there any way we could get a possible explanation or get them added back? Thank you.

YES PLEASE! Seeing Frank Ticheli's music on SmarMusic helped make me decide to use the program with my classes. Please work to bring his music back to the platform.

Smart music responded to me and said that their contract with the publisher ended and hasn't yet been renewed, if it ever will. Sucks but what can you do.

When I contacted SmartMusic this is what they said to me

"Hi Ethan, I'm so happy to hear that your students have been making great progress in and out of SmartMusic! You are right that Frank Ticheli's pieces have left the SmartMusic library.

We are constantly working to license new content for the SmartMusic repertoire library, agreements on existing titles occasionally expire without being renewed, just like movies on Netflix. Such is the case with Manhattan Beach Music titles, which including Frank Ticheli's compositions. I hope you find other titles in our extensive music library that you and your students will be excited about!"

I replied that I was very disappointed and that I hoped they would do whatever they can to get his music back on.

This was their final response to me

"Thanks for your feedback Ethan. I will make sure that the value you find in the Manhattan Beach titles is registered. We do keep track of user requests for content and prioritize discussions based on that. We have an ongoing relationship with Manhattan Beach and discussion with them and our other publishing partners can move at a fairly slow pace. Thanks again for your feedback!"

Maybe if enough people contact them they will make this a priority. I contacted them via messenger.

    Hi all,

Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback and letting us know how this is affecting your program. Although we're not at liberty to disclose specifics regarding any of our licensing agreements, we have more information on the Manhattan Beach Music titles expiring at the end of our November Repertoire Update on our blog.

While this kind of occurrence is exceedingly rare for SmartMusic, we know this does not lessen the impact on your classes and students. Please be assured that your comments are seen by product management as well as our repertoire development teams. Thank you.

What a shame that Frank Ticheli's music is no longer on SmartMusic :-(

His Amazing Grace is one of my favourite band pieces ever.

I don't know Manhattan Beach Music, but as Frank Ticheli has chosen them for his music, they must be pretty good - which means we're missing out on heaps of good titles :-(

Hope you work hard at negotiating with Manhattan Beach Music to have their music back on SmartMusic very SOON.

I'll also contact SmartMusic direct - agree the more people that do this, the more likely Manhattan Beach Music will be recontracted.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I seriously love your music and if I hadn't used smartmusic, I wouldn't have gotten the chance to open up to your amazing compositions. I really hope that everything works out, my band director and I have been on the hunt for American Elegy- my personal favorite - and it would really help to have access to it on smartmusic since our band isn't so hot at the moment. Again thank you for helping us out, and good luck!

Hmmm... Ticheli's, Manhattan's, and Makemusic's comments have all been removed. I was just about to write a thank you to them for taking notice of this. That's a shame, I really would have liked to know If they had made any progress.

Please bring his music back to Smartmusic. Some of us were counting on it being there, and it has put me in a pretty bad place not having that instructional tool.
