The process of getting parents and students signed-up for Smartmusic needs to change.

Ideas

1. Teacher creates Username and password(Student ID) for students and selects instrument.

2. Teacher then has the ability to add parent/guardian email to student username for notifications.

Waiting for parents to sign-up takes way too long for teachers. Parents do are too busy to check or they forget the login for their own child.

Since our profession involves preparation and organization waiting for parents to sign-up takes away the effectiveness of those traits.

I agree. Even waiting for the parent to confirm through their e-mail is taking forever.

The teacher should be able to set up all accounts with students' usernames and passwords and activate account. Then we can send an e-mail with the info on to the parents but still be able to use accounts in school immediately.

I just had students create accounts for the first time.  The process was fairly frustrating for me and the students.  The password requirements were not listed anywhere so we had to guess and those.  The time zone drop down contained dozens of different time zones and there was no easy way for me to explain to the students which one to choose so I ended up doing it for many/most of the kids.

I would love to be able to create accounts for my students and them give them their own passwords.  I am worried that if/when a student forgets their log in information that I won't be able to help them.

I would like to be able to sync it with my students google accounts.  Our district is google wide and being able to import from google classroom would be very handy!

I am also having problems with parents/students signing up but their email or name is not in my class.

I actually confirmed this by using their email address again to sign-up and it says "email address is already in use" So what do I do....???

On a related note, if we're creating accounts (which I'd most definitely recommend as this year it went far more smoothly having done so), what about having us as Administrators on the accounts such that we can reset the passwords in case they forget them at some point? TOur New SmartMusic admin/teacher accounts could be added as Admin accounts (easily removed by the students if desired) to be able to make changes on the account, should a student find him/herself unable. A teacher should then be able to edit a student's account from within the admin page of the teacher, rather than having to sign out and sign in to the student's account.

I strongly agree with ALL of these comments!  If I could add my own student accounts, I could standardize the form for the password (like LAST.FIRST.ID#) so I can easily login to both (1) see what the students are seeing, and (2) fix any login problems the students have.  At least 25% of my students forget the passwords they just gave themselves the day prior, and/or mistype their passwords, so they are almost impossible to fix!

It would be SO nice to just cut-and-paste (or better yet, drag) a list of students from a spreadsheet into SmartMusic, like Remind allows!

I also would love to have the secondary E-mail go straight to the parents.

As administrator of the SMARTmusic and music teacher, can I modify passwords, or identifiers on the student account.

(we set up the classes today!)
