Whenever my students open their assignments (mostly from Essential Elements) the My Part will play, even while recording, unless they turn it on and back off again under the "Tracks" menu.  When they open the assignment, the "My Part" is grayed out with the little X over the speaker icon...  yet it still plays.  That means that even if I disable the My Part in the assignment, they can still submit with it if they fail to turn it on and off again.  Thank you.

Yep, getting the same thing.  I put in a support ticket.

Same thing with Sound Innovations for Concert Band, Book 2 (red). I'll follow up with a support request.

This is similar to my post and another:

    https://smartmusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115007053948--My-Part-and-Accompaniment-OFF-in-assignment-parameters

    https://smartmusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360016284214-If-I-don-t-click-Allow-My-Part-then-don-t-allow-it-

At the first link, I think I communicated that there are times when I never want students to hear their part (in sight reading, for example).  The screen "Let's Set Up Your Assignment" needs the "Allow" options in two different contexts: "Allow When Practicing" and "Allow When Assessing."

I submitted this issue LAST school year and it still is not resolved on iPads!!

Yes, we just started using Smartmusic this year. The Sight Reading part of this program has so much potential, but if this bug is not fixed, then it's basically useless. If I put in the assignment that only the metronome should be able to play, then that's what should play, nothing else.

Also, students are on ipads for this.

I am having the same problem. Attempting to report it over the phone and was told that internal testing on their end didn't show the issue...but once again, still happened when we tried it in class.

The new method book The Listen-Sing Method, Vol. 1, does not play the part to be assessed, ever.

If you make your own files in Finale to import into SmartMusic, open Studio view and decrease the volume to zero on any part to be assessed. Then save, export as MusicXML, and upload into SmartMusic.

    Cynthia,

Unfortunately, this is an extremely time consuming work around that should not even be necessary. This is a known and very apparent bug that needs to be fixed.

    Nicholas,

I agree wholeheartedly that it's a feature on the assignment screen that needs to work.  I posted about it a year ago -- scroll up to see that post with links to other posts.

I and other collegiate aural skills instructors create many (all!) of our own files. I offer the suggestion to reduce the volume to zero only for those who create their own files.

Otherwise -- I'm totally with you!!!
