I'm a retired music educator and have been using Smart Music almost since its inception. Since I've retired, I use Smart Music as an accompaniment tool for both practice and performances (when there isn't an adequate accompanist available). I played my first performance with a "Music Minus One" LP back in 1958. It's a shame that we are now going all the back to that technology in accompaniment software. Does anyone know if Smart Music is going to put this feature back into their new version or can someone lead me toward a software that I can use in place of Smart Music?

Thanks,

Mike

Follow me is for more advanced interpretations and I used it a great deal with students in the old platform.  If it is not put back in,  my question is WHY NOT ?

That's a very good question. The "follow me" feature is the only reason I have Smart Music anymore. I've tried the new version and if they don't add "follow me" I won't continue to be a customer.

Yes the follow me feature is needed for any music that has a "rallentando" followed by "a tempo". Please put this feature back in.

Why is follow gone? This is the main reason I used Smart Music.

I use Finale to create a lot of Smartmusic accompaniments for me (to study) and to my teaching activity. Both the "Follow me" and the "Wait for note on" features were fundamental for my choice to buy a Smartmusic subscription. So I don't understand why not to include these features in this web based new version of the software, and I'm thinking if it is interesting to me to pay a subscription for a software that it's (in these aspects) a downgrade in relation to the previous version.

Definitely needs the follow-me and wait for note features back!

The "follow me" feature is one of the reasons I have used Smart Music for the last decade! Please, bring it back !!

I just got a subscription under the assumption that the "follow me" feature was still there. I'm a collegiate music student and can't perform with an accompanist because of the pandemic, and I was looking forward to having an accompaniment track that I'd have to memorize the timing for. Please respond to these questions about its availability and/or possible alternatives soon.

I teach in an Italian school, I also believe that this function should be reactivated before the Korean competitor steals all users. The Compose and SR Builder functions are interesting, but SmartMusic was great because it allowed Follow Me accompaniment. No other program in the world allowed it and it is strange that Finale still allows you to create intelligent accompaniments for SmartMusic. With older students, Follow Me accompaniment would be very important.

"Follow me" is the best reason to have a SmartMusic subscription.  It is crucial for solo repertoire, especially pieces where the soloist starts first.  Without it, there's not much point continuing.

I considered subscribing until I found out the follow me feature wasn't a thing in the web version. Also what happens if you use it for performance and you don't have access to internet?

Please bring back the follow-me option. I work in a music school with no access to accompanists and we teach classical instruments, in the older version it was great. now it is useless.
