Hi again. This issue should be resolved now. Please let me know in this thread if you continue to see the same error message.

I am also encountering this problem.  When I try to assign something to a student, I just get an error message.

I am having the same problem.  I am using this with my beginning band group.  The students are excited to use this and I am not able to give them an assignment.

    Dear Doug & Patsy,

Can I encourage you to post tickets to support about this as it seems it maybe more of a global problem that they're not fully aware of yet.

    Marc :)

I am also having this problem.  I've been a smartmusic member for about 1 week.  How do I submit a ticket?  Nevermind, I figured it out.

Having the same problem since my trial ended and I paid for my membership. I had no issues creating assignments while on my trial period. Has anyone found a fix yet?

no answer from smartmusic yet. i would encourage you to submit a ticket on this issue, then they might prioritise the issue. https://smartmusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I don't know what to say except this makes the program unusable. I tried to assign something mid day yesterday and after spamming the assign button for around 1/2 an hour I was able to assign something. I have not had any luck today. I too have submitted a ticket.

Mine worked fine for a couple of months, then nothing today. Hoping they answer the tickets, or else my entire virtual learning curriculum is upended.

Hi everyone. Sorry for the hassle this is causing. We believe we've identified the specific scenario that can cause this issue with assignments and are working on getting this resolved now. I'll update this thread once we have more information.

On top of this issue, my students can't open materials that I have assigned to them. Like pieces of music. They can still open essential elements, and I can still assign essential elements. But I can't assign specific pieces of music, and they can't open them even if they have already been assigned. Maybe these issues are related?

Update- seems to be working now, so those issues must have been connected!

@... still getting the error message when trying to assign to my pre-existing classes [the classes I created before my school shifted from free to paid version.]

However, I was able to assign to the 1 new class I created since we went to the paid version.

    Would appreciate any advice/fixes please.

I'm still having the issue. This is super frustrating because my students can't access the material without it being assigned. I've paid for the membership and can't fully take advantage of it since this is happening. Please help!

Buenos días, todos los días intento asignar las actividades y todavía no puedo. ¿Cuál es el problema? ¿Qué tenemos que hacer?

I have had the same problem for the last 20 days.  No response at all!  I have sent in 3 different request.  You can not refrain from support if you are charging people to subscribe!!!

When I log in it says my subscription has expired and I need to pay to activate.  WHAT???  I have a confirmation email stating you have already received my payment 3 weeks ago.  (This may be the issue you are having).  I sent you our PO information and Yes, it has been paid.  Ref Code:  B84V-2XZT

Perhaps it's time to challenge the charge on my credit card.  At the very least you should start the subscription when you fix the problem.  I've gotten zero use the last 4 weeks.  My kids are back on campus and I don't have much use for it anymore.

Having the same problems as folks above. Why aren't answers in this thread? Maddening how hard it is to get this all going this year.

Hi everyone. This error can happen when trying to assign a premium title to a free class, although it appears to be displaying the incorrect messaging for that instance. I'd double check you have the classes you're assigning to set to "Standard." You can check this by clicking the app picker grid at the top right of the screen, and choosing Admin. From there, click on Classes. Find your class in the list and, if it is set to Free, click on Standard and follow the on-screen prompts. Once set to Standard, I'd expect your assignments should be able to go through.

Yes, Yes, Yes.  Thank you for fixing the problem.  I am not sure what the delay was but this did the trick.  Thank you!

Hi Brent. Let's make sure your classes are linked to your platform (school/district) so they can access your paid seats. (We allow users to not link classes to their platform to account for private lessons.) From the admin Classes page, click Settings (gear icon) for an affected class and click Class Details on the following page. If the toggle icon for Linked to Platform is gray, click the toggle and follow the prompts on screen. Once this is done, you should be able to set the class to Standard.

Good morning, could you send photos of the process of making a free account to a standard account? I still can't assign. Thank you very much.

After the free trial ran out in the spring I decided to purchase the $80 teacher subscription with the understanding that I would be able to assign anything from the Smart Music Library to my students. I did not purchase any standard seats for students because that necessity was not included in the description of the teacher subscription. When I try to assign materials to students I get the red error message.

How do I assign materials without having students in standard seats? I feel quite a bit mislead; if I can't assign anything and my students can only use the Free music, I paid $80 for no reason.

If someone could clarify ASAP that would be so helpful.
